The CCHS Bulldogs hosted the Jordan Mustangs for three games on Friday, January 24. The JV boys started off the action, with the Bulldogs coming out on top, 44-33. Tiernan O'Connor led all scorers with 17, and Clay Rost chipped in 13 to aid in the win.
In varsity girls action, the Lady Bulldogs faced off against a Lady Mustang roster down to only seven players due to illness. The Lady Bulldogs led by one at the end of the first quarter and steadily extended their lead en route to a 50-33 victory. Nasya O'Connor led all scorers with 25, and Kendra Tooke added 11 for the Bulldogs. Jordan's Jada McWilliams scored 17, followed by Skylar Lawrence with 10 and Reese Witt with 6.
In the varsity boys game, the Jordan Mustangs led the Bulldogs throughout the contest and sealed the victory with several clutch free throws down the stretch. Kaleb Frye led the Bulldogs with 21 points, and Ethan Mellon contributed 10. Jordan's Jayden Saylor led all scorers with 25 points.
The Bulldogs made the trip to Wibaux to face the Longhorns on Saturday, January 25 and came away with the sweep. The JV boys from CCHS defeated the Longhorns 47-21 behind Rylan Carroll (17 points) and Tiernan O'Connor (13 points).
In the second game of the afternoon, the Varsity Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Longhorns 52-26. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 20-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, and their depth wore down the Lady Longhorns as the Bulldogs extended their lead. Kendra Tooke and Nasya O'Connor scored 16 points each to lead the Lady Bulldogs, who improved their record to 7-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
The boys' varsity matchup between the Bulldogs and the Longhorns was close early, but the Bulldogs pulled away behind a game-high 16 points from Chace Loehding. Kaleb Frye chipped in 10 for the Bulldogs, while Alec Helvik scored 14 to lead the Longhorns. The victory pushed the Bulldogs to 9-3 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
The Bulldogs traveled to Bison, SD to face the Cardinals in varsity-only action on Tuesday, January 28. The results were not available at the time of publication.
CCHS JV teams will take on Broadus JV on Friday, 1/31 in Ekalaka, with JV girls tipping off at 1:30 p.m. and JV boys at 3 p.m. All CCHS hoops teams will then travel to Broadus on Saturday to face the Hawks, with games starting at 12 p.m.
