Mid-Rivers awards grant to Badlands to Badlands Trails

Eastern Plains Economic Development Corporation (EPEDC) is pleased to announce a recent community grant award. By collaborating with Badlands to Badlands (B2B) Trails and Mid-Rivers Communications, EPEDC successfully facilitated a grant to support B2B's website Mapping Resource Project. This $1000 of generous funding will enable B2B Trails to initiate and complete a significant portion of its innovative online mapping resource, which serves as a cornerstone for outdoor exploration across eastern Montana and western North Dakota.

The primary goal of the B2B Trails Mapping Resource Project is to create a comprehensive, safe, and accessible digital map to guide outdoor enthusiasts, local residents, and visitors through the unique terrain of the Badlands region. By highlighting trails, pathways, and key visitor amenities, the mapping resource promotes safe recreation, fosters tourism, and supports economic development.

The $1,000 grant from Mid-Rivers Communications will directly support the project's geospatial analysis, data integration, and interactive map development, in collaboration with the Montana State University (MSU) Geospatial and Environmental Analysis Program. The funding will cover approximately 50-60 hours of work by MSU experts, enabling the creation of detailed map layers that highlight trails, connecting pathways, and local amenities such as lodging, dining, and tourist attractions.

"This support from Mid-Rivers Communications is a game-changer for the B2B Trails Mapping Resource Project," said Teresea Olson, Chair of the Board of Directors for B2B Trails. "It brings us one step closer to offering a reliable, user-friendly tool that connects communities, supports safe outdoor exploration, and celebrates the natural beauty of eastern Montana and western North Dakota."

The B2B Trails initiative is committed to fostering partnerships that enhance regional connectivity and access while promoting responsible land use and environmental stewardship. The comprehensive mapping resource will provide a vital platform for adventurers to explore the region while supporting local economies and creating new opportunities for cultural tourism and recreation.
