Extended care news

November, 2024

With the extra activity of the season this should be noted as history not news! My apologies to our readers!

Lois Kapptie celebrated her 90th birthday with family by her side enjoying cake and ice cream. Lois was the 8th baby born to Anna and William Kapptie. Lois is a "spit fire" now, I can't imagine how lively she was when she was growing up with a family of brothers! Happy Birthday Lois!

November 3, daylight saving time ended, meaning our days will get shorter and our nights longer. The days will continue to get shorter until Dec. 21, winter solace.

Finally, the election arrived, Tuesday, November 5. It seems this has been an extremely long and taxing election. The amount of campaigning literature received every day was overwhelming. From here on out the amount of mail received in the mailbox should start to lessen!

Wednesday afternoon the Activity Dept. hosted a "Taste of Fall Party". A table was set up with items made from produce grown in the gardens of the staff. Salsa was made with garden tomatoes, breads and bars made from zucchini and pumpkin, jelly made from choke cherries, jam made from zucchini, and fresh sliced apples dipped in caramel. A lovely afternoon of taste testing!

Sunday, November 10 Neal Heggen was honored on the day of his birth with a group of friends bringing in cup cakes and ice-cream. The group made Neal's day! His classmates, the class of 1969 are a faithful bunch! Birthday Salutations Neal!

Wednesday afternoon, November 13 Phil Cook came with his guitar and entertained the residents. Phil is faithful to come, the second Wednesday of every month is reserved just for him. If it works to have another join him that makes it all the merrier!

November 15, just a few years ago the world was blessed with a little dark-haired baby girl, Marty Carroll. Marty's family brought cupcakes and ice cream and served the residents and a host of friends. Happy Birthday Marty! Wishing you many more!

Friday at 1:22 our beloved Janet M. Enos left this world and walked through the gates of heaven with family by her side. Janet lived a full life, 101 years, 7 months, and 3 days. Janet moved into Dahl Memorial, Feb. of 2020. Our deepest sympathy is extended to her family.

Wednesday, November 20th, Joseph Meide made the move into Dahl Memorial. Joseph came to us from Miles City, Montana. Welcome Joseph, hope this will be an easy transaction for you.

Madlon's daughter, Terry was here the week before Thanksgiving. Terry would play cards with the ladies after lunch. It's always nice to have a new face added to the circle.

The 28th day of November was Thanksgiving Day. Earlier in the month the residents were asked what kind of meal they would like to have, a traditional one no less! The dietary dept. came through shining so bright! A traditional meal of turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pies for dessert.

This is all for the month of November.

Until Next Time....
