And progress continues on the way.

The board also discussed plans for the upcoming IBB process and excitement to get the snowball rolling and conversations started with our teachers.

Mrs. Spencer shared information about the district's first round of state testing. The results were encouraging and a great starting point for the year.

To address staffing needs, the board and Superintendent are actively working on teacher recruitment. The district has four staff resignations. Additionally, they approved a resolution that allows eligible students to graduate early, providing greater flexibility for students.

The district has received a bid for a design-build project to replace the aging high school roof and ventilation system. The old igloo needs a new roof. This project is crucial for ensuring a safe and comfortable learning environment for students and staff. We will be working to share that information and keep the community updated in the coming months.

Furthermore, the district was awarded and approved an $8,000 Montana Advanced Opportunities Grant to continue to support community partnerships, field trips and CTE courses.

Financial matters also took center stage at the meeting. The board discussed the district's outstanding IRS payments and is working to pay the bill while appealing the believed mistakes.

Additionally, the superintendent's contract was extended for a year, with negotiations for a new contract underway. The new contract commits to stability of leadership through June of 2027.

As the snow starts to mount, we are all thankful for the moisture, and when the sleigh stops at the school, just know my door is always open.
