Slowing down!
Hello God, it's me, Mara:
You know, Lord, a friend shared that she had read about slowing down time – and that so much has changed since the electric clock was invented in the 1840s! That was most interesting to watch or think about how we today keep time, no matter where we go or what we do, it seems like most folks, especial the younger ones, all know about smart watches, smart phones, and laptops. Chuckle chuckle! Seems like the entire pace of life seems faster now – even our leisurely walking has speeded up, especially in cities, and then they have a negative effect on health, some have said: like "We're just moving faster and faster and getting back to people as quickly as we can."
Patti shared: "One of my Professors said that he'd observed that it's driving us to think everything has to happen NOW!"
Pete said that he'd read that Moses, the writer of one of the oldest of the Bible's psalms, reflected on time. He reminds us that God controls life's pace; quoting Psalm 90:4 "A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night."
Patti added. "Our time on earth won't last forever. Yet we can manage it wisely, not by watching the clock, but by giving each day to God. Remember what Moses said, 'Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom,' Psalm 90:12."
Pete sighed and added; "Hey! What's your pace in life? We all should KNOW that we need to pray: 'Gracious God, when we fall out of step with You, draw us closer to abide in You.'"
Patti smiled and added, "It's now December! We know what we NEED to do; we know that Christmas will soon be here – so, let's get in step with our Father!"
Love Mara
