Ekalaka Elementary celebrates Breakfast with Bestie and BARK Awards

On October 16, Ekalaka Elementary hosted a heartwarming community event, "Breakfast with Bestie," where families and friends gathered to enjoy a morning of delicious muffins, lively conversations, and plenty of smiles. Following the breakfast, the school celebrated its students' achievements with the BARK Awards, recognizing both behavioral excellence and academic perseverance.

For the first quarter, students focused on important life skills such as emotional regulation, impulse control, smart brain versus emotional brain, and developing anxiety coping strategies. One student from each class was honored for their growth and development in these areas. These students included Rhett Borchgrevink, Eli Whitney, Bekka Bruski, Hiro Hammel, Zade Napoles, Sasha Yates, and Suri Johnston.

In addition to behavioral achievements, students were recognized for their academic successes in math and reading. Outstanding math students from each class were celebrated for their proficiency and growth, while top readers were acknowledged for their reading skills. Riggins Kittelmann, Wyatt Sedgwick, Ryder Roth, Calgary Spring, Cambri Jesperson, Cora Wright, and Daisy Krazter were all recognized for their excellent math skills. Sophia McCabe, Loraina Kratzer, Kayzlee DeFrance, Kaylee Nelson, Bristol Stieg, Cora Wright, and Daisy Krazter were awarded the reading award. Our top Accelerated Readers were additionally awarded, including Zane Swanson with 19.4 points, Whitey Hansen with 22.5 points, Zoey Hansen with 23.3 points, Ty Smith with 24.7 points, Wyatt Sedgwick with 26.9 points, Eli Whitney with 28.0 points, Thomas McCabe with 30.8 points, Bane Jardee with 34.3 points, Kaylee Nelson with 59.1 points, and our top reader Xyler Longee with 67.1 points. The last awards for the morning breakfast were our top two PE students, Claire Brence and Hiro Hammel.

We are so proud of the academic and behavioral growth our students make daily, and we appreciate all the individuals who support them. We cannot wait to meet in December for our second quarter Bark Awards and Breakfast with Bestie.
