A Memorable September: Community Updates

September has been a whirlwind of activity at Ekalaka Public Schools. We've had an incredible start, filled with community spirit and exciting events. It might just be you humming ...."Do you remember, that night in September."

One of our highlights was the overwhelming community response to the Remington Fire fundraiser. Together with Plentywood School District, we raised a remarkable $10,000 for those affected. Special Bulldog Nation shoutout to -T7 Cattle, Jitt Schnieder, Cassidy & Tandi Jesperson and Ryan & Abbey Bruski for making this happen.

Our athletic/activity fundraiser is nearing its goal! We're close to starting the year with $10,000 to build a sustainable budget and provide for our students. The fundraiser ends on September 13th, so please let your favorite athlete know who else is out there that wants some good snacks.

The homecoming planning is coming together, and we're excited to dance! The entire community is invited to join us for homecoming fun. Our homeschooled students and country schools are all on the special invite list, and we encourage the community to participate as well.

We've created the hashtag #BulldogsHC24 for businesses and schools to post their best spirit week photos on Facebook, Instagram, or email. You never know when we might pop in to see if you "remember it's September" and homecoming week. We'll be looking for the best business photos!

The National Guard will be joining us on the 27th, adding to the festivities. We're working with the Chamber to make this a "September to Remember"!

The fitness center had a successful kickoff event on August 30th, with over 40 community members stopping by to get their keys and take a tour. If you missed it, please visit the office to sign up for a membership.

The adult education catalog is now available. Keep an eye out for it and sign up for classes that interest you.

Teachers spent their first early release day collaborating on strategies to maximize their time together and create a more engaging learning environment. They explored and discussed ways to continuously improve student engagement and outcomes.

The school board conducted a "dress rehearsal" to test video streaming and microphone equipment. This week, the board also established new policies around the live streaming of meetings which will be starting October 8th.

We continue to prioritize open communication and transparency. Draft meeting minutes are posted within a day of the meeting, and agendas are published a week in advance to ensure the community has ample time to participate.

As we move forward, let's continue to embrace the spirit of community and support our students and school. Remember, just like in the song "September," let's dance our way through the month and create some lasting memories together.
