Netters win tourney to start season, fall in Forsyth

The CCHS varsity volleyball squad opened their season by winning a tournament in Sidney on August 31st. The team only lost one set throughout the entire day. The girls defeated Froid/Medicine Lake, Sidney JV, Wibaux, Plevna, and Richey/Lambert - all in two sets - on their way to the championship match. In that contest, they had a rematch with Froid/Medicine Lake and dropped the first set, 16-25, before rallying to win the next two for the championship, 25-22 and 15-12.

In game one versus Froid/Medicne Lake the Lady Bulldogs had 6 aces, 15 kills, 5 blocks, 22 digs and 9 assists. Danica Shepherd led the way with 6 kills, and 8 assists.

Against Sidney JV, the Lady 'Dogs had 9 aces and 16 kills. Nasya O'Connor led the way with 3 of those aces and 8 kills.

In their next game against Wibaux, CCHS tallied 21 aces, 13 kills, 4 blocks, 12 digs and 9 assists. Shepherd had 7 aces, and all 9 assists. O'Connor had 2 blocks and 4 digs. Kendra Tooke led the team in kills with 4.

Versus Plevna, the girls won two quick sets 25-8 and 25-12. Tooke and Bella Jensen tied for a team-high in kills with 4 each. Tooke also led the team in digs (4 of 10). Shepherd led the team in aces (11 of 13) and assists (9 of 9).

The semifinal contest that CCHS played versus Richey/Lambert was much closer but the girls held on in set number one, 25-23 and got a win in the second set which timed out, 21-20. O'Connor led the team with 6 of 13 aces, 7 of 13 kills and 7 of 8 blocks. Shepherd had 9 of the team's 10 assists and Tracy Wilson had 6 of the team's 18 digs.

In the chipper, CCHS had 6 aces, 19 kills, 9 block, 25 digs and 10 assists. O'Connor had a team-high 9 kills and 6 blocks. Her and teammate Jensen also tied for a team high in aces. Wilson again led in digs and Shepherd had all 10 of the team's assists.

In Forsyth on September 7th, both junior varsity and varsity squads lost their volleyball matches. Stats for those games were not yet available.
