Your Community Builder
Recently, our community may have seen an advertisement mentioning Dahl Memorial as being at risk of closure due to proposed healthcare policy changes. This ad has understandably raised concerns, and I want to provide some clarity about our current situation and our commitment to serving Ekalaka and the surrounding areas.
Our Focus: Quality Care, Not Politics
Dahl Memorial operates independently of any political campaigns. The recent ads are third-party political messages funded by Montanans for Tester, and they were not coordinated with or endorsed by Dahl Memorial or any other hospital named. It’s crucial to understand that these ads are part of a broader political discussion and do not reflect the current operational status of our hospital.
Challenges Facing Rural Healthcare
Rural healthcare providers like Dahl Memorial face significant challenges, including financial pressures, evolving policies, and regulatory impacts. These issues are common across rural hospitals, and while the ad reflects broader concerns, they do not directly threaten our ability to provide care today. Our focus remains on navigating these challenges together as a community and advocating for the policies that best support rural healthcare.
Our Commitment to You
Dahl Memorial is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, which means we cannot participate in political campaigning. This status is crucial for our operations and allows us to focus solely on providing care to our community without political influence. We are dedicated to maintaining our mission, regardless of political climates or campaign rhetoric.
We are grateful for your trust and support. The path forward will require hard work, cooperation, and resilience—qualities that define our community. We encourage everyone to stay engaged, ask questions, and continue supporting the unique needs of rural healthcare.
If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to us directly. Together, we will continue to ensure a healthy future for Ekalaka and Carter County.
Onward and upward,
Darrell Messersmith
CEO, Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association
