Fair planning continues

Plans for the Days of '85 are continuing as the event draws nearer. The annual county fair and rodeo is slated for Thursday, August 8th through Sunday, August 11th this year.

On Thursday, sheep dog trials will be taking place at Ekalaka Track and Arena, a silent auction will begin at Ekalaka Public Library, and animal shows will be taking place at the fairgrounds throughout the day.

On Friday at noon, the pet parade will begin at the fairgrounds. At 1 p.m. Carter County Museum will host Science Friday at the fairgrounds. The annual Firemen's Barbecue will take place from 4 to 7 p.m., and free fair entertainment has been scheduled for 7:30 p.m at the fairgrounds.

Also taking place on Friday afternoon/evening is a pool/beach themed party on the Main Street triangle. The party includes turtle races, a cornhole tournament and a goat roping.

The annual Bump-N-Run is scheduled for Saturday, 11 a.m. at the airport. The day will continue to be busy with the 4-H/FFA livestock market sale at 3:30 p.m., and the rodeo at 5:30 p.m. Indian tacos will be served at St. Elizabeth Lutheran Church from 4 to 7 p.m. and the Days of '85 Gospel Sing featuring the Steve Kolbach family will start at 8 p.m. outside of First Baptist Church. A street dance on Main Street with music by the one and only Kenny Feidler is set for 9:30 p.m. on Saturday. There will also be a kid's zone on main Saturday night until 11 p.m.

A pancake breakfast will be served at the St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church Parish Hall beginning at 7 a.m. on Sunday. The parade and a car show are scheduled for Sunday morning, with the parade set to begin at 11 a.m. and the car show to follow. There will also be live music before and after the parade downtown. The Sunday rodeo performance, beginning at 2 p.m., will cap off the weekends events.
