Dahl EMS system elevated

In January 2024, Dahl Memorial Healthcare welcomed Rebekah Hopkins and Travis Doggett as Paramedics, aiming to enhance the level of care for the community and patrons of Carter County and DMHA. Prior to their arrival, the EMS system in Carter County operated at a Basic Life Support (BLS) level. Despite the skill and dedication of our EMS team, they were limited to providing only basic care.

The introduction of Paramedics significantly expanded our scope of practice. Through countless hours of hard work, the EMS team and Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association have elevated service to a Limited Advanced Life Support (ALS) level. This advancement allows Dahl Memorial to deliver the highest level of care available in Montana’s 911 emergency system, including administering advanced medications and performing advanced procedures in the field before hospital arrival.

Currently, staff provide dedicated 911 ALS service from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., although there may be delays outside these hours due to limited paramedic staff. This progress represents a major leap forward in Frontier Emergency Medicine.

At Dahl Memorial Healthcare Association, staff are committed to continuing this progress and demonstrating that the EMS system can be the best in Frontier Medicine throughout Montana.
