Wanda M. Gundlach

Wanda Gundlach of Pendleton, Oregon and formerly of Milton-Freewater, Oregon passed away on June 22, 2024 at the age of 94 years.

Wanda was born in Camp Crook, SD on June 1, 1930. She grew up outside of Capitol. She graduated from Carter County High School in Ekalaka in 1948. On August 12, 1948 she married Louis Gundlach also of Ekalaka. They spent their first winter working on a sheep ranch. They then moved to Missoula, MT where Louis studied at the University of Montana to become a business teacher. He taught for 4 years in Montana. His first teaching job was in Forsyth. before moving to Savage. In 1957 they settled in Milton-Freewater. Wanda lived in Milton-Freewater for 47 years. During this time she worked for USDA as a quality control technician.

When Wanda and Louis retired they spent their winters in Yuma, AZ. Louis died in 2004 and Wanda moved to Pendleton to be closer to her children. Wanda enjoyed working outside in her yard and tending her flowers. She was an avid reader and she loved playing bridge.

Wanda is survived by her 5 children, Tara (Al) Meunier, David (Doreen) Gundlach, Randy (Jan) Gundlach, Brice (Tina) Gundlach and Mike Gundlach; Brother, Luther (Marlene) Waterland and Sister, Helen Fahrni; 9 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.

A graveside service with be held at the Milton-Freewater Cemetery on Friday, July 5th at 2:00 p.m.

All are invited to the reception following the service at the Munselle-Rhodes Reception Center, 908 S. Main, Milton-Freewater. Memorial contributions can be made to Pendleton Outreach or Milton-Freewater Senior Center in care of Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main, Milton-Freewater, OR 97862.
