Extended care news

April, 2024

Help me remember, April shower brings May flowers, right? Looking back on the month of April, lots of wind but no showers!

Monday was the first day of the week as well as the first day of the month. The morning consisted of exercises and after lunch the ladies’ played cards. The afternoon winner was Marty Carroll.

Tuesday, April 9 Virginia took time for 1 on 1 s with different residents who do not participate in the general activity program. The afternoon was spent playing Po-Ke-No, with Madlon winning most of the rounds. Of course, the ladies are always ready for cards after the scheduled activity, Wild 10 was the card game of choice. Marty was the winner of the Wild 10 games.

Wednesday afternoon the residents were treated to live music from some of our local musicians. Dane Castleberry, Phil Cook and Sarah Reynolds played their instruments and sang a variety of music. The event was so enjoyed by all. Thank you for spending your afternoon with us.

Friday, April 12 a celebration was held in honor of Janet Enos’s 101 birthday! This writer wasn’t sure a party would be held as earlier in the week Janet wasn’t feeling to good. But Friday morning she was up and ready to go! Tables were set up and decorated, a beautifully decorated cake and ice cream were served. Four out of her 6 children were able to attend as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wishing you a Blessed 101-year Janet!

Friday the 19th the residents were blessed with the company of Susan Tooke and Monte Lou Monroe. The plan was to have a sing-along with Susan leading the group accompanied by Montie Lou. Some sang along but Karen was the faithful one, she knew all the songs! Very entertaining as Susan would wear her special cowboy hat while singing certain songs! Thank you, ladies, hope we can do this again.

On Saturday, April 20th Robert and Carole Nies celebrated 61 years of marriage. Their granddaughter Jorden baked an Angel Food cake and spent the afternoon with them. Congratulations Nies!

The afternoon of the 24th several of our residents spent time outside enjoying the beautiful day. Madlon, Faye, Lois, and Laura just sat and soaked up the sun!

Friday the 26th Scott put up a small windmill on the east side of the facility. I had been to Baker the day before and felt this would be a nice addition to our yard. It was up and running but discovered when the wind blew from the west, the windmill was still. To make it work the wind needed to blow from the East or South. I’m sure with the amount of wind this country gets the windmill won’t be still for long.

Thursday morning Milton spent some time outside, he’s the courtyard monitor! That guy makes sure everything is on the up and up! (Mainly Me!) After lunch Vernalea Kittelman came in to join the ladies in their card games. It’s always nice to have a new face join the group.... any takers?

Sunday the 28th day of April Carole Nies celebrated the day of her birth. Happy Birthday Carole!

Until Next Time.....
