Marjorie Ann Waterland, 84, Spearfish, SD, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024, at her home. Memorial Services for Marge will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 10, 2024, at the Alzada Community Hall, Alzada, Montana. Inurnment will follow at the Little Missouri Lutheran Cemetery in Capital, MT. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzada Community Hall.
Marjorie Ann Plunkett was born April 4, 1940, at Buffalo, SD, to Walter and Patricia (Conniff) Plunkett. She was raised in the Buffalo area, graduating from Buffalo High School in 1959. On October 10, 1959, she married Charles (Swede) Waterland and began their life together. They lived on many ranches, working for the Western Cattle Co. Then in 1964, they moved to the Jim Storm Ranch near Alzada, before settling on the Cochran Grazing Association at Alzada. They lived and ranched there until they retired and moved to Spearfish.
In retirement, she enjoyed playing cards and bingo, socializing in the rockers at the Hickory House, along with the occasional trip to Deadwood. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. Marge also enjoyed travel, going to Arizona and a cruise with Cleo and Pete. She was also a Denver Bronco's fan.
Marge is survived by her children, Monna Rae (Dana) Zeigler, Rapid City, SD, Chuck (Kellie) Waterland, Alzada, MT, Roy (Rhonda) Waterland, Vale, SD; grandchildren, Rachel (Travis) Adamson, Renee (Toby) Liechti, Brittany Waterland and Bailie Waterland; great-grandchildren, Aspen, Skye, Maddie and Sienna; sister, Sue (Zeke) Litzel; sister-in-law, Bonita (Tunk) Pulse; numerous nieces and nephews; along with special friends, Cleo Rowe and Reta Schell. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, brother, Paul and his wife, Betty Plunkett.
