Carter County Commissioners have authorized the Carter County Planning Board to develop a Growth Policy on behalf of the County. A final draft of the Policy can be reviewed by visiting the project website at http://www.carter.stahlyprojects.com or by obtaining a copy at the Carter County Courthouse, 214 Park Street, Ekalaka, MT or at the Carter County Museum, 306 N Main Street, Ekalaka, MT. A public open house is scheduled for June 3, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. to allow citizens of Carter County an opportunity to learn more about the Growth Policy and provide comments on its contents. The meeting will be held in the Carter County Commissioners Chamber, 214 Part Street, Ekalaka, MT.
A Growth Policy is a means of proactively preparing for change affected by growth or lack of growth. It is a community's development plan. It evaluates existing community conditions and sets goals for housing, land use, economic development, local services, public safety, natural resources, transportation, and other unique characteristics and features of the community.
Members of the Planning Board and others involved in the drafting of the Growth Policy and the County's consultants from Stahly Engineering & Associates will be on hand at the upcoming open house to answer questions and take your comments on the various topics included in the Growth Policy.
Anyone who would like more information or who wants to submit suggestions should contact Robie Culver, Stahly Engineering & Associates, (406) 442-8594 (rculver@seaeng.com).
