Shakespeare at Ekalaka Public Schools

Born from aspirations to bring the timeless tales of William Shakespeare directly to rural and under-served communities, Montana Shakespeare in the Parks has been enriching the lives of people in Montana for fifty-two seasons.

Montana Shakes! was created in 2008 and is the only Shakespearean elementary school theater program designed for rural communities. Sixty tour stops stretch across Montana and Wyoming, reaching over 11,000 students each spring. MSIP only charges schools one-half of the actual cost of keeping the program on the road. The other half is made up through a combination of grants and individual donations.

Montana Shakes! recently stopped at Ekalaka Public Schools where they performed an original interactive play called  "Goofes, Gaffs, Flubs, & Fumbles," written by Matt Foss in collaboration with Sam Cheeseman, Emily Hawkins, and Nadja Simmonds.

After a question and answer session, the play was accompanied by exciting classroom workshops designed by a specialist in theater curriculum. The fun-filled day also met many of Montana's Common Core Standards in English Language Arts and Literacy.
