Local veteran Rich Burch lost his home located on Senator St. in Ekalaka to fire on February 21st. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Burch was not home at the time of the fire. Ekalaka Volunteer Fire Department was on scene. The home is still standing, but due to extensive damage it is not yet known whether or not the structure can/will be saved.
Family, friends and community are coming together to host a benefit for Burch. A soup dinner with cinnamon rolls and bars will be served, beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th inside the CCHS Tuggle Room. In addition to the dinner, a basket and baked goods raffle will also be taking place throughout the evening, from 4 p.m. until around 8 p.m.
Organizers are still accepting donations for the raffle. Those who would like to donate should contact Mikel Fruit at 406-853-2117 or Kim Tooke at 406-975-6580 for more information.
Please plan on attending the benefit on Saturday, March 9th at 4 p.m.
