The Bulldogs didn't go down without a fight, but their season ended at the District 4C tournament on Saturday with a consolation game loss to the Plevna Cougars.
On February 15th, the number five seeded 'Dogs defeated the number 4 seeded Terriers of Terry, 61-51. The Bulldogs shot 18-44 (41 percent) from the field and 10-24 (42 percent) from three-point land. Terry went 18-58 (31 percent) from the field. Blue shot more free throws and went 15-24 from the line; Terry went 9-14. Bulldog Wyatt Melton led the way on offense with 19 points (he shot 4-8 from behind the arc) while Kaleb Frye led the team in rebounds (8). Terrier Landen Schilling led all scorers with 25 points.

The Bulldogs held even with the Jordan Mustangs in the second half of their semifinal contest the following night, but it was a 21-point deficit at halftime that did the 'Dogs in. Blue managed to out-rebound Jordan, 46-40, but they also had 9 more turnovers. As a team, they shot 19-64 (30 percent) from the field, 2-16 (13 percent) from behind the arc, and 11-17 (65 percent) on free throws. Jordan went 27-65 (42 percent) from the field, 6-16 (38 percent) from behind the arc, and 13-15 (87 percent) on free throws. Preston Jensen had a big night for CCHS with 16 points (he shot 7 of 14 from the field) and 13 rebounds (6 of which came on the offensive end). Jordan, the number one seed headed into the tournament, went on to narrowly lose to the Broadus Hawks in the championship game.

In loser-out action the following morning, the Bulldogs defeated Wibaux by 19 points despite the fact that multiple players were dealing with an illness, including senior 'Dog Ethan Frye who was unable to even suit up for the remainder of the tournament. CCHS led Wibaux in almost every statistical category on their way to victory. They shot 37 percent from the field and 50 percent from the free throw line. Chace Loehding had 16 points to lead the 'Dogs in scoring; Colter Bacon led the 'Horns with 14.

In their consolation game against the Plevna Cougars, the 'Dogs, still battling illness, went down by nine at the end of the first quarter, but battled back to make it a one-point deficit by the end of the third before eventually losing, 54-59. Blue won the rebound battle, 59-41. Both teams had 17 turnovers. CCHS shot 11 more field goals and 14 more free throws in the game, but their field goal percentage was 27, compared to 39 for the Cougars. A big part of that was behind the arc where the 'Dogs shot only 1 of 16 while the Cougars shot 6 of 15. Wyatt Melton scored 30 points for CCHS on 10-34 shooting from the field. Preston Jensen again had a big night on the glass by pulling in another 16 rebounds. Tate Poppe led Plevna in scoring with 26 points.

The five point loss to the Cougars in Saturday's consolation game ended the Bulldogs' season at the District 4C tourney. Broadus, Jordan and Plevna will move on and play in the Southern C Divisional.
