Conversations with God

Hello God, it’s me, Mara:

You know, Lord, good news or good messages abound. For example, unsettled weather plays havoc with roads so when family or friends have visited and we’ve all had a jolly good time, it’s good news when they let us know that they’ve arrived safely back home. It’s good news when tires only need to be rotated, not replaced or when ‘Marylee’s’ grades go up, or when friend ‘Annemarie’s’ blood tests come back with a good report, plus a dozen other ‘pieces of good news’ that reach us. And for ‘little ones’, maybe up-coming holidays and vacations would be good news.

The ‘GOSPEL’ (which means the ‘message’) is the best ‘good news.’ This important message is that You, Lord, the Son of God, came into the world, bore the punishment for all sin, (for everyone – for anyone!); rose from the grave and made a way for people to live with You forever. That is the greatest ‘Good News’, ever!

An unknown author suggested that we read Revelation 2; and pray that many will respond to the invitation to “come” to Him, if we are thirsty or weary, etc. That is good news! Another author guided some folks who having lost sight of the good news, and walked away, to remember that truth still remains, that Salvation comes by grace through faith. Because of Your great love, Lord, and compassion for us, You freely offer this gift, that we trust in You and allow the Holy Spirit to work in us to make us more like You.

The goal is love, which comes from a pure heart, a good conscience and a sincere faith. As the New Year has already begun, may we continue to pray for family, friends, near and far, for Your protection, Lord, and blessings to meet all our needs. And mostly, dear Lord, we Thank You for the gift of Salvation…. ‘Good News!’
