Gary Gorder

Celebration of Life for Gary Gorder was held January 16 at Stevenson Funeral Home, Baker, with Don Buerkle officiating. Burial will be at Bonnievale Cemetery.

Gary Gorder, 62, of Baker passed away on January 8, 2024 in Billings, MT.

Gary "Moose" Gorder was born June 17, 1961 in Casper, Wyoming. Shortly thereafter the family relocated to Baker where he grew up and attended Baker Public Schools. Gary took on many jobs and developed new skill sets with each. He worked at the Husky Gas Station and then the Lewis Ranch which later became his and Pam's, Petershawn Construction in Plevna, Uncle Earl Collin's Construction, then drilling rigs to workover rigs, then onto developing his own business Gary Gorder Construction. Later you would find Gary's Construction and Larry's Construction working side by side on many, many jobs. He later returned to the oilfield doing construction with Frank Newstrom.

As a strong young man his ability as an arm wrestler was noticed, hence the nickname "Moose" came about. Many people to this day don't realize that his name is Gary, especially in Carter County. Gary and Pam Lewis were married September 30, 1978 and the couple was blessed with three children, Darick, Dustin and Donna and Baker remained their home. Gary especially enjoyed his time in the outdoors. One could find him fishing, hunting or working on his ranch under Bell Tower. He shared this with his kids and grandchildren whenever given the chance. He loved teaching his Grands about nature, hunting, and fishing. Often times one of the Grands would get to tag along to one of his construction jobs or fencing and "help." He was beyond proud of his kids and grandkids and took great pleasure in supporting them in their activities.

He enjoyed pool league, dice, and horse shoes. Anyone who wanted to learn how to spin the dreidel, he was willing to teach, as long as they were willing to lose their money. Gary helped form the pool league in Fallon County but yet he played for the New Life Bar and Old Stand Bar in Ekalaka.

Gary was a strong, quiet, laid-back natured man and many people in the community benefited from his kindness and eagerness to help. He needed no attention brought to his service. He was just happy to make things easier for others. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and through this group was able to do good for his community. The Gamma Beta sorority thought of him as an honorary member for the hours that he helped at the Fair beer booth. He was a member of the Fallon County Wild Game Feed from 2004 to present. Gary told Jake many times "You need to go bigger!!" Gary helped put together the Pat Harrison Shots and Strokes.

He enjoyed every day to the fullest and requested that all in attendance CELEBRATE and remember the fun times you shared.

Gary's love of life and support will be missed by many but especially by his wife of 45 years, Pam; children all residing in Baker, Darick (Michelle), Dustin (Bailey), Donna (Trent); grandchildren, Jacey, Ryann, Kael, Sady, Briley, Jayda and Treylan; siblings, Lonnie (Jodi), Ronnie, and Robin; numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Cathy; brothers, Eddy and Terry Gorder; mother in law, Donna Lewis; father in law, Lee Lewis.
