CARTER COUNTY COMMISSION PROCEEDINGS

The Board of Carter County Commissioners met in regular session on Friday, December 29, 2023, in the Carter County Commission Board Meeting Room of the Carter County Courthouse at 214 Park Street in Ekalaka, Montana. Rod Tauck, Chairman, Mike Watkins, Vice Chairman and Pamela Castleberry, member were present.

The meeting was called to order by chairman Rod Tauck.

Clerk and Recorder Judy Wright stepped into the meeting with questions about the Event Center rental fee exception schedule.

Commissioner Castleberry made the motion to approve the Payroll in the amount of $266,040.61, and the Claims in the amount of $422,541.58 + late claim $399.00 total $422940.58. Commissioner Tauck seconded the motion. There was no public comment and the motion carried.

Amanda Williams, Fallon/ Carter Extension Agent joined the meeting. Where the Commission discussed writing a letter of request for a full time Extension Agent for Carter County. Amanda left the meeting

Carter County Conservation District Board {CCCD) member Adam Courtney joined the meeting with questions and comments pertaining to the Growth Policy update. Adam presented information that the Land Use plan must be included in the Growth Policy. The Land Planning Committee is currently working to update the Growth Policy. The Commission suggested that the Committee would be open to working with the CCCD to update the Land Use Plan.

The meeting broke for lunch at 12:05 and reconvened at 1:00 with Commissioners Tauck, Watkins, and Castleberry present. Guests include Clerk and Recorder Judy Wright and County Attorney Corbit Harrington.

The MOU with Cater County and the Town of Ekalaka for the gravel and repair of Mormon Street was read and will be approved after Road and Bridge Supervisor Carl Knapp has reviewed the document.

Commissioner Castleberry made the motion to approve the payment of $1,189.00 for the storage of the County Resolutions through ArcaSearch. Commissioner Watkins seconded the motion. There was no public comment and the motion carried.

The Carter County Commission Board reorganization: Commissioner Watkins suggested that they leave the Commissioners Chairman and Vice-Chair the same as last year. Commissioner Watkins made the motion to seat Rod Tauck as Chairman and Mike Watkins has Vice-Chair. Commissioner Castleberry seconded the motion. There was no public comment and the motion carried.

Commissioner Castleberry made the motion to approve the Commissioners Proceedings for December 21, 2023. Commissioner Watkins seconded the motion. There was no public comment and the motion carried.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:20 p.m.
