On January 26th, area basketball fans will have an opportunity to cheer on the Bulldogs and enjoy a soup and sandwich free will supper benefiting Zander Oliver. Zander is the son of McKinzi and Derek Oliver of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, grandson of Tim and Terri Mcinerney and great-grandson of Doran and Sharon Higgins. He and his sister, Keenan, were involved in a car accident last October. Zander suffered serious head injuries requiring a long stay in Fargo at Sanfords Children Hospital, a couple brain surgeries and multiple ambulance transports.
From Fargo, Zander was sent to Sioux Falls for a rehabilitation program until almost Christmas. He returned back to Fargo for a third surgery to replace his skull cap and finally got to go home for Christmas. He has made amazing progress with the blessing of good doctors, nurses, facilities and the unwavering support of his family, but the journey ahead is still long. Zander is working hard in physical therapy to have the capacity to do the things he enjoys; football, basketball and bringing his animals to the Carter County Fair.
Let’s do what we do best and help him along this path. See ya at the ballgames!
