Our role

Hello God, it’s me, Mara:

You know, Lord, it was interesting reading a blurb about ‘doing our role’, encouraged by 1 Peter 4:10 where it says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace.” It unveiled how two little girls wanted leading roles in a play, but they ended up being ‘flowers’, which meant they did vital but not-so-high-profile work but were excited for their friends and enjoyed cheering them on, also sharing in their excitement.

It went on to share how helping and encouraging others is a way to show love for You, Lord. We’re not to forget Your work and the love You’ve shown Your people. It encourages us to help others in a way to show love for You, and reminds us that You have given each of us a gift to be faithful stewards in and of Your grace.

While being encouragers, let’s not forget our work and the love You’ve shown us as we help people, help us to be faithful stewards of Your grace, Lord; just imagine a church of encouragers diligently using their God-given gifts to His honor. That makes joy for them and us.

Like those two little girls – we probably all DO know someone who received a position, task, or role that WE might had wanted, yet, we also know they could use our encouragement.

A quoting from that blurb: ‘Sovereign God, help us not to focus on other roles, but to serve You in the sacred calling You have given me. Enable me to help others by a word of encouragement for what they do for you.’ Maybe we know someone who received a position or something that we wanted, yet they could use our encouragement – so Lord, give us wisdom to be encouragers and thank You, Lord God, for the task You’ve given us in serving others.

Love, Mara
