It has been a pleasure to coach these 5th and 6th graders, they have worked hard on their basic skills, offensive moves, and defensive slides for the last 6 weeks.
On Friday we played Wibaux and the B team lost 16 to 33. Peighton Matthews had 4 points, Aubri Ashbrook had 3 points, Ella Wright had 3 points, Oakley Spring had 1 point and Cai Jesperson had 5 points. Our free throws improved, as we shot 42 percent from the line.
The girls A team won 50 to 26 over Wibaux. Samantha Deford had 1 point, Alivia Foxley had 5 points, Lily Schallenberger had 2 points, Alya Yates had 5 points, Keli Melton had 15 points, and Allie Shepherd had 22 points. These girls’ free throw percentage was excellent at 75, as we shot 12 times and made 9.
On Saturday the B team played their last game of the season against Broadus and we lost 10 to 33. Vera Strub had 3 points, Aubri Ashbrook had 2 points, Cai Jesperson finished with 3 points, and Oakley Spring finished with 2 points. The free throw percentage went down to 28.
The A team lost 18 to 44 against Broadus. The Broadus girls made most of their points under the basket. The first quarter Broadus took off at 16 to 4, second quarter it was 27 to 10 and we only made 4 points in the third and fourth quarters. Alivia Foxley had 2 points, Ayla Yates had 2 points and Keli Melton had 14 points. We only went to the line 6 times and made 2.
The A team girls have four days to prepare for tournament play in Miles City this coming weekend.
