Dear Editor,
Tomorrow November 11th, is Veterans Day, and yesterday November 9th, I had the honor of helping put on the Veterans Appreciation Program at the School.
There were quite a few Veterans, several who had been adopted by each class and others as well. In planning the Program I attempted to make it a Program that would be entertaining to all, educational to our future and a show of appreciation to who mattered, our local Veterans, and Veterans we don’t know near and far.
My father was in WWII, and I am very proud of him, my husband is a Vietnam era US Army Veteran who I am equally proud of. This was my 3rd year of doing this, and I look forward to doing it again next year if they want me back. It isn’t about me. It is to THANK all of our Veterans who served in which ever time frame they were in to keep us all safe and free.
I realized after the Program yesterday I had not recognized our Veterans in attendance as my heart would have liked…..I was so trying to make sure the Program I’d put together for them went well. Next year will be different to at least a degree. I am already working on it.
I appreciate all those who helped me put it together and to let them all know they are not forgotten, nor will they be.
I’d also like to thank you for all you do to support our Veterans each year and recognize them, it means a lot to them and their families.
Respectfully,
Jacki Poland
