On the heels of former Ekalaka Public Schools Principal Brian Purnell's recent resignation, Superintendent Charles Cook formally announced his resignation at the unified board's regular meeting on Tuesday night.
Cook will be staying with the school through the end of the fall semester, he said. His last day in office will be on December 21st.
Cook also spoke briefly, after announcing his own resignation, about what he said were untrue rumors surrounding the recent resignation of Purnell.
"I think it's sad," he said. "I just can't comprehend it. With him gone and with that attitude, I don't want to do it."
Seven members of the public in attendance, three of whom are teachers at Ekalaka Public Schools, provided public comment at the meeting. All of the public comment was positive support of the recent administration.
Ekalaka Public Schools has not provided any statement or additional information about either of the resignations, but is now left scrambling to find administrative staff in the middle of the school year.
Also of note at Tuesday's meeting - Glen Frye was hired as boys assistant basketball coach for the upcoming season, and Chioko Hammel was hired as head high school track coach.
