The completed portion of the veterans memorial at Perso Park in Ekalaka is shown above. Walls bearing the names of area veterans who have valiantly served their country will be built on each side of the portion shown above.
Through the generosity of Stockman Bank, The Carter County Community Foundation has received a $25,000 Challenge donation towards building the Veterans Tribute in the Town of Ekalaka. Stockman will match donations up to a total of $25,000.
"The Carter County Community Foundation and members of the Ekalaka community have put a lot of work into honoring our Veterans through the Tribute. As a prior service member, it's great to see it coming to fruition" stated Mitch Grove, Stockman Bank Miles City Market President." The Tribute will be a wonderful addition for the county."
The Tribute is partially installed, and when finished, will feature three walls, including military seals, engraved names, a seating area and landscaping.
Dave Williams, Vietnam Veteran and Committee member comments, "It is rewarding to see that our Carter County Veteran's Tribute is going to be a reality. It will be so nice to honor our veterans from WWI to present and into the future. Thanks to all who are making this possible. A special thanks to Stockman Bank for their generous donation and for matching additional funding. This will help us to achieve our final goal."
How to Donate
Stockman Bank will match donations, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $25,000 through December 31, 2023. Matching contributions can be made via mail. To have a gift matched, simply mail a donation between now and December 31 to Montana Community Foundation/Carter County CF Fund - Veterans Tribute, PO Box 1145, Helena, MT 59624-1145. Be sure to indicate your gift is for the Veterans Tribute. Any remaining dollars from the project will be used by the Carter County Community Foundation for future projects.
