Junior high girls basketball working on positionless offense

We have been working on positionless offense so that every girl has the option to dribble, shoot or pass. These girls are quick to pick up the new drills we are giving them. We are setting goals during practice and for games, whether it is getting a certain amount of defensive and offensive rebounds or less than 10 turnovers or 30 baskets. These girls are working hard to accomplish their goals as a team, and we also have encouraged them to set personal goals. Coach Olsen has stopped at the gym to assist with some drills and Mrs. Walker has assisted at some games. I want to thank all of you for helping these girls improve their skills.

The Jr. High Girls Basketball B team played Plevna on Friday with Plevna winning 16 to 10. Ella Wright had 4 points all from the free throw line and Cai Jesperson had 6 points. We will continue to work on our free throws as we went to the line 6 times, but shot only 4 for 12. Plevna does not have an A team.

On Saturday we traveled to Wibaux where the girls B team lost 4 to 23. Aubri Ashbrook had 2 points and Ella Wright had 2. We went to the line 2 times and made 50% of our free throws.

The girls A team lost to Wibaux 28 to 40. We got into foul trouble early which did not help our offense or defense. Alivia Foxley had 2 points, Maggie Eshelman had 4 points, Holland Lovec had 4 points and Allie Shepherd had 18 points with 9 points being from the 3-point line. These girls played hard defense all through the game but some of our baskets just didn’t go in.

We look forward to the next week, playing in Broadus on Friday and Jordan will be here on Saturday.
