Bulldogs finish regular season second in division

Home playoff game vs. Circle will take place next weekend

The CCHS Bulldogs trounced St. Labre two weeks ago on senior night at Rowley Field to wrap up their conference play for the season. The game was in large part treated as a junior varsity game for the Dawgs as several reserves spent the majority of the cold night on the field.

On October 13th CCHS traveled to Circle to wrap up regular season play. Circle is still a part of the 8-man east division, and since the 'Dogs were moved to the 8-Man southeast division this year, the game was not a conference contest. Since the Bulldogs had locked up second place in their conference, and Circle pretty much had locked up third place in theirs, the game was again treated in large part as a JV contest.

Blue started their regular varsity players, as did Circle, but starters were mostly removed from the game at the start of the second quarter. The Bulldog starters allowed multiple scores and were unable to score themselves. However, the younger boys for CCHS went in - and with several starters still in on Circle's defense -they punched in Blue's first touchdown, completing a long drive that consisted of mostly run plays.

After that first CCHS score, both teams essentially called off the Dogs. Neither head coach wanted to show their hand as both knew there was a strong chance they would be facing each other in the first round of the playoffs.

The game ended with a score that didn't really matter, but was in favor of Circle, 20-54. Blue will look to improve their offensive line play and work on stopping the run on defense over the next week until their playoff game.

The home playoff game will indeed take place versus Circle at Rowley Field next weekend. It has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 28th at 1 p.m., pending the availability of referees for the contest.
