Linda Leibly (née Sandy), born on May 14, 1941, in Ekalaka, Montana, passed away on July 6, 2023, in Olympia, Washington, after battling lung cancer. She was 82 years old.
Daughter of Royal and Viola Sandy (née Cox) and sister to the late Sandra, Linda was deeply rooted in her Montana upbringing. Ekalaka was always home. Her sister and many Cox cousins were particularly dear to her, forming bonds that lasted a lifetime.
After completing her nursing degree at Montana State University, a yearning for adventure led her to Seattle, where she worked as a nurse at the 1962 World's Fair. She later obtained a Psychology degree from the University of Washington and found her second calling as a teacher.
In 1967, she married Frank Leibly, and their loving marriage lasted 50 years until Frank's passing. They were blessed with two children, Laura and Frank, and settled in Olympia in 1973, where they would spend the rest of their lives.
Linda was a woman of extraordinary empathy and kindness, always focusing on others and putting their needs above her own. Linda was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother and grandmother, and a dedicated professional both in the field of nursing and education. She volunteered at her children's schools and provided steadfast support to neighbors, friends and family in their times of need.
Privately, Linda was a deeply spiritual woman who felt a close connection to God and deep love for nature and all living things.
Linda leaves behind her children, Laura and Frank, daughter-in-law Elaine, and her cherished grandchildren, Noel, Allison, and Carolyn. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and selfless service to others.
Rest in peace, Linda. Though your time on this Earth has ended, your light continues to shine in the hearts of the many lives you touched.
