Autumn arrives
Hello God, it’s me, Mara:
You know Lord, You are the Creator – so YOU know that Autumn arrives on Saturday, according to several of the calendars hanging around here. Several friends have mentioned that, to them, it’s a yearly relief from those muggy mid-nineties that THEY have had, and now the cool breeze is inviting them, and maybe us, outside because the sun no longer seems so hot and angry.
You know that we probably all grow a little weary of each season toward its end, but the beginning of every NEW season always brings renewed hope. You noticed that in the first days of summer, we bypassed heavy, chilly-weather clothes for shorts, a sleeveless top and even our feet were thrilled to breathe in flip-flops. Plus, there’s re-discovering the pool every late May. That’s summer, and now we’re headed into Autumn.
Your plan to refresh us is a good one. Who could have anticipated the quarterly boost that the changing of seasons would bring? WE also are thankful for the gift of the Spirit inside of each of us, to provide refreshment every moment, not just on a quarterly basis.
Although life has its seasons of ups and downs, heartaches and joys, You, dear Lord, are consistent, You are NOT a changing season, You are flexible with all our weaknesses and needs. Psalm 65: 11 tells us that, “You crown the year with Your bounty.”
We won’t worry about the winter season, yet, as we’re so excited to breathe crisp autumn air, and the coziness of coming inside for warm, comfy clothes and having a cup of hot tea. Whatever season we’re in, You, Lord, have something with which to refresh us – always.
Let’s take an autumn walk, friends, and thank Jesus for His goodness, season by season! It’s beautiful out there! Thank You, Lord Jesus.
Love, Mara
