A referee mix-up (or possible shortage) led to an interesting situation during the varsity football contest between CCHS and Lodge Grass on September 8th in Lodge Grass. Only one MHSA official made it to the game, so two individuals were pulled from the Indians' sideline and two were pulled from the Bulldogs' sideline. This ensured that all of the officials for the contest had proper training on concussions and CPR.
CCHS assistant coach Eric Lovec, left, stood in as the back judge for the contest while Ekalaka junior high assistant and activities bus driver Rusty Spencer, right, stood in as one of the line judges.
The Bulldogs won the contest, 52-30. CCHS took an early lead and then the game was back and forth throughout most of the evening. Several big plays took place for both sides resulting in a lot of running for the officials.
The Bulldogs play a non-conference game this weekend before getting to the meat and potatoes of their schedule, beginning with homecoming versus the Broadus Hawks on September 22.
