Floyd Eugene Hoover was born July 3, 1928 to Robert Forest Hoover and Mary Alice Tuttle Hoover in Cheraw, Colorado. He went home to be with the Lord on August 3, 2023 at the age of 95.
Floyd grew up on a pig farm where he was raised in the Mennonite church. He attended Cheraw public schools for 12 years. During that time he shoveled coal off of box cars and worked for the Inge company. He left the Mennonite church to serve his country. He served in the Army for 18 months during WWII and the Korean War, then returned home to Colorado. He started working for Smith Ranch in 1949 and worked for them for 46 years.
Floyd married Bonnie Marie Jenkins on November 9, 1952. They moved to Montana in 1959 to continue working for Smith Cattle Company. After retiring from Smith Livestock, he worked for Ray Jerrel and ran a mail route for Pat McKenzie. Up until his passing, he continued to work outside assisting with haying, yard work and gardening.
He loved his family (kids, grandkids, great-grandkids) all alike. When given a task he would put his all into it, like serving on the school board. Floyd loved the outdoors and horses. He loved to play cards and if he could get "your goat" he would. He loved to watch football, especially the Green Bay Packers.
Floyd is survived by his wife Bonnie of 70+ years; a sister, Sarah Wilson; two brother-in-laws Bill (Marlyn) Jenkins and John (Judy) Jenkins; his children; daughter Sheryl Whitney (Dwayne) of Miles City, son Bruce Hoover of Miles City, son Keith (Barb) Hoover of Ismay, daughter Jenifer Villeneauve of Glasgow, and daughter Julie (RJ) Hubbard of St. Marie; grandchildren Josh, Seth (Casey), Tessa Whitney, Terry (Ann) Nass, Michelle Berry, Cactus (Mike) Steelman, Autumn (Layne) Murnion, Kayla (Joe) Kiel, Jeremy (Brittany) Hoover, Greg Villeneauve; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
