The Annual Dino Shindig will kick off its eleventh season - bringing visitors into Ekalaka from all over the world - this weekend. Dino enthusiasts, many of whom arrive in Ekalaka earlier throughout the summer, will hear lectures from leading paleontologists, partake in kids activities, dance the night away, catch a film premiere, join a science and cultural history gathering at Medicine Rocks State Park, go on a nature hike and much more.
Beginning at 9 a.m. this Saturday, families can check out an array of children's activities, demos and a ZooMontana booth at Carter County Museum. Admission is $7 for kids and $10 for adults.
At 8:30 p.m. a short film, "Tale of Horns and Teeth," will premiere at the museum. At 9 p.m., a bat walk with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks will take place. The annual dance on Main Street, featuring musician Tristen Schofield this year, will also begin at 9 p.m.
In addition to all of the family fun on Saturday, there will also be twelve lectures from leading paleontologists taking place at the Lutheran church in Ekalaka. The lectures are around 20 minutes long, begin at 9 a.m. with Carter County Museum's own Dr. Sabre Moore, and are open to the public. Lectures will be followed by a live auction at around 4:30 p.m. A silent auction that will be taking place throughout the day is set to end at 5 p.m.
On Sunday, those who pre-registered for the annual dig will be on an active dig site. More lectures, learning and a hike will also be taking place, beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the group use area of Medicine Rocks State Park.
Don't miss out on a fun, educational weekend in Ekalaka.
