Mark Leonard Schnabel

Mark Leonard Schnabel, a cherished individual who touched the lives of many, passed away tragically on June 18, 2023, as a result of a fatal traffic accident. He was 52 years old at the time of his passing. Mark resided in Apache Junction, AZ, where he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

Mark is survived by his beloved daughter, Sydney Schnabel, who resides in Mesa, AZ. He is also survived by his mother, Anne Yates, hailing from Newell, SD, and his brother Terry Schnabel, residing in Placerville, CA. Mark was predeceased by his older brother Wade Schnabel, his father Gerald Schnabel, as well as his grandparents from both sides of the family.

Mark entered this world on November 5, 1970, in Gillette, Wyoming, to parents Gerald Schnabel and Anne (Dye) Schnabel. His formative years were spent in the picturesque Black Hills, where he discovered a deep passion for hunting and fishing. It was during this time that he also developed a strong affinity for God and horses, fostered by his close relationship with his uncles, who served as his mentors.

At the age of 16, Mark ventured to California but soon returned to the Black Hills, independently completing his high school education while staying with friends and family. He proudly graduated from Spearfish High School, marking a significant milestone in his life. Following his graduation, Mark settled in Arizona, close to his mother, and made it his home. Throughout the years, he engaged in Communication Contracting, a profession that took him across the western United States, including Alaska, enriching his life with diverse experiences.

Mark married and embraced the joys of fatherhood, adding immeasurable happiness to his life. He was a dedicated father, actively involved in the upbringing of his daughter. An individual of unwavering faith, he attended various churches, steadfastly following the spiritual path instilled in him, largely by his Uncle Chip.

For the past 17 years, Mark found professional fulfillment as a communications technician with the Cox family. In addition to his career, he joined the Apache Junction Mounted Rangers, a commitment that reflected his deep connection to both the organization and his community. Known for his kind heart and willingness to lend a helping hand, Mark was always there for those in need.

Living each day in close communion with his Creator, Mark led a full and purposeful life, although his time with us was cut short. He left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will forever be cherished.

A funeral service was held on June 24th at 11 a.m. at the Superstition Funeral Home in Apache Junction, located at 398 East Old West Highway.

A celebration of Life will be held at the Alzada Community Hall on July 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. Mark will be laid to rest next to his brother, Wade Schnabel.

As we mourn the loss of Mark,, let us remember the light he brought into our lives and the enduring love he shared. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live each day with faith, passion, and compassion.
