Carter County Growth Policy public meeting

Carter County Commissioners have authorized the Carter County Planning Board to develop a Growth Policy on behalf of the County. Citizens of Carter County are encouraged to get involved in the ongoing growth policy process by attending a public meeting/open house on Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Carter County Event Center, 209 West Speelmon, Ekalaka, at 5:30 p.m.

A growth policy is a means of proactively preparing for change affected by growth or lack of growth. It is a community's development plan. It evaluates existing community conditions and sets goals for housing, land use, economic development, local services, public safety, natural resources, transportation, and other unique characteristics and features of the community.

The upcoming public meeting/open house will include a brief presentation on the purpose and process for creating a community growth policy. Members of the planning board and the county's consultants from Stahly Engineering & Associates will be on hand to answer questions and take comments on the various topics included in the growth policy.

Anyone who would like more information or who wants to submit suggestions should contact Robie Culver, Stahly Engineering & Associates, 406-442-8594; [email protected].
