Plans for the Days of ‘85 are continuing as the event draws nearer. The annual county fair and rodeo is slated for August 11th through August 14th this year.
On Thursday, sheep dog trials will be taking place at Ekalaka Track and Arena. A silent auction will begin and animal shows will also be taking place.
On Friday at 10 a.m., a sand volleyball tourney will be taking place at the town park. At noon the pet parade will begin at the fairgrounds. The Firemen’s Barbecue will take place at the high school from 4 to 7 p.m., and free entertainment, “Waddington Brothers” has been scheduled for 7:30 p.m at the fairgrounds. A kid’s dance and games will also take place at the fairgrounds, beginning at 8:30 p.m.
The Bump-N-Run is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. The day will be busy with the 4-H/FFA livestock market sale at 3:30 p.m., the stick horse rodeo at 4:30 p.m. and the rodeo at 5:30 p.m. Indian tacos will be served at St. Elizabeth Lutheran Church from 4 to 7 p.m. and the Days of ‘85 Gospel Sing featuring “Next Journey Quartet” will start at 8 p.m. outside of First Baptist Church. A street dance on main street is set for 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. There will also be a kid’s zone on main Saturday night until 11:30 p.m.
The parade and a car show are scheduled for Sunday morning in addition to the annual rodeo at 2 p.m. Also this year, children’s foot races will be taking place on Short Street following the parade.
