Father’s Day

Hello God, it’s me, Mara:

You know Lord, sometimes things pop up and seem to fit right in – so – here’s an acronym written by Lowell Lundstrom [date unknown], portraying important qualities regarding fathers. He wrote that American families are falling apart because of the failure of fathers to fulfill their God-given role. The acronym:

F – FEAR – in Eccl.12:13 Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived said,” Fear God, and keep His commandments; For this is the whole duty of man.” Pro 1:7 – “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”

A – ACCOUNTABILITY – Matt. 12:36- “But I say unto you, ‘That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement.’”

T - TENDERNESS & TOUGHNESS – Eph. 4:31 “Let all bitterness and wrath, and anger and clamor, and wrath, and anger and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice. And be ye kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Eph. 6: - “And, ye fathers provoke not your children to wrath; but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”

H - HONESTY & HUMILITY – Pro. 22:4 – “But humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honor, and life. I Peter 5:5&6 – “Be clothed with humility; for God resisteth the proud and giveth grace to the humble.” Pro. 15:33 – “Before honor is humility.”

E – EXEMPLARY LIFE – Pro 17:6 says a child’s glory is his father. Can your child be proud of you?

R - RIGHTEOUSNESS & REVERENCE – Pro 11:4 says that your riches won’t help you on judgement day; only righteousness counts then. Pro 14:26 – “In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and His children shall have a place of refuge. Reverence for God gives a man deep strength; his children have a place of refuge and security.”

Love, Mara
