On February 22, Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Carter County Conservation District hosted an adaptive management workshop. Throughout the day there were around forty-five people at Carter County Event Center.
Kevin Sedivec, NDSU Professor and Rangeland Management Specialist, came to Ekalaka to speak at the event. Sedivec presented how to adapt management for extreme weather, grazing concepts and his patch-burn grazing study. Several local producers also presented their key management concepts. The workshop ended with a producer panel, along with Sedivec, answering questions and discussing local operations.
NRCS and the local conservation district were thankful to all who attended the workshop, the producers that presented, and to Sedivec for traveling to Ekalaka to be the speaker.
NRCS and CCHS FCCLA made a delicious meal and treats for the workshop. Overall, the turnout was great. Organizers plan to have more workshops in the future.
