My favorite holiday of the year was this week, which was Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2. It has become my tradition to do a Whoville poem to celebrate Dr. Seuss and my First Amendment right to freedom of expression. Watching the drastic erosion of freedom in the attempted takeover of Ukraine underscores the need to preserve all of our freedoms and guard against tyranny, socialism, and the complete lack of basic common sense that this country is grappling with. Last year, when I decided to run my Whoville poem, my sister warned me I would likely get both fired and unelected. Since neither of those things happened, I decided to turn the heat in my pen up a notch this year!
The Whoville State of the Union
—by Dr. Seussan
It’s now been a year since the Who’s elected Joe . . .
Time to look back on just how that year did go.
First he canceled the Keystone pipeline, which was a goof.
11,000 jobs disappeared, and fuel prices flew through the roof.
Who’s now buy 595,000 barrels from Putin every single day,
Which seems really ironic with the Ukraine invasion underway.
The Keystone would have delivered 830,000 barrels per day,
But energy independence is not this administration’s way.
If you want to enter Whoville, just walk across the border
On the yellow brick fentanyl and human trafficking corridor.
Don’t count on the police, cuz they liberally defunded them.
Smash and grab “protests” turned into murder and mayhem.
They failed to plan the abandonment of Afghanistan leaving patriots behind,
Along with over 10 billion dollars worth of equipment for the Taliban to find.
Joe tried to mandate masks and getting the jab
To ward off that bug hatched in the Wuhan lab.
But the virus mutated and spread and is obviously never going away.
“I’m done with following so-called science!” is what the Who’s say.
If the cost of living keeps inflating the way it has been this past year,
The Who’s will face economic struggles and great financial fear.
The stimulus checks are spent, and the supply chain is disrupted.
The American dream is vanishing, and our media is corrupted.
It has been a dismal year in Whoville, under this chaotic reign of his,
While Ukraine’s Zelensky is showing the world what true leadership is.
Pray for Ukraine and pray for the Who’s,
Faith is the one thing Who’s must not lose!
I don’t think there is a recipe for Green Eggs and Ham, but here are some other kid friendly recipes to get kids in the kitchen.
Monkey Bread:
2 loaves frozen bread dough
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 C. brown sugar
1 t. vanilla
Break bread dough into small pieces and roll in white sugar and cinnamon. Put in a 9 X 13 pan and let rise until doubled. Mix butter, brown sugar, and vanilla, and pour over dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
Cheesy Pretzels:
1 1/2 C. flour
2/3 C. milk
1/2 C. Cheddar cheese, shredded
2 T. butter
2 t. baking powder
1 t. sugar
1 t. salt
1 egg, beaten
Coarse salt, onion salt, or garlic salt
Beat the first seven ingredients with a fork until well mixed. Divide dough into 16 parts. Make snakes with your hands. Then form snakes into pretzel shapes. Lay carefully on a greased cookie sheet. Brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle lightly with salt. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown for a tasty snack.
No Mix Meatloaf and Gravy:
1 lbs. lean ground beef
1 lbs. pork sausage
1 pkg. onion soup mix
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Mix ground beef and sausage together and form into a loaf about 3 inches high on a large sheet of aluminum foil. Sprinkle soup mix on top. Spread soup from the can over the top. Wrap foil loosely but seal tightly. Place in a shallow pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
