Powell received the coin for 25 years of volunteering to teach Hunter and Bow Ed in the area.
An upcoming hunter education course will be held for locals at the Bud Powell residence, located at 102 Woolston Rd. in Ekalaka. The course will take place on Friday, February 25th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and again on Saturday, February 26th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be an hour break for lunch on both days, and hunters should bring their own lunches. The field course will take place outdoors on Saturday. Hunters should be prepared for inclement weather and dress as if they were headed out to hunt.
Workbooks for the hunter education class can be picked up at Wagon Wheel Café in Ekalaka or at the Bud Powell residence. Questions at the end of each chapter of the workbook must be completed prior to attending the classroom course, so attendees should pick up their materials in plenty of time to complete the assignments.
Parental consent forms must be printed, signed and brought to the first day of the class. The forms are provided at fwp.mt.gov. For questions or trouble printing them, please contact Bud Powell at 406-775-6239.
Online students are welcome to attend the field course after completing the online class, but must register for the event separately under the "Hunter Education Online Field Course" event on FWP's website.

The classroom course is limited to 15 students.
Anyone born after January 1, 1985 must pass hunter safety in order to hunt.
