This month, Dawg House Pub owners Chris and Grace Jardee did something a little bit different for Christmas. In the spirit of giving, the pub has held different giving events over the course of the last four weeks. The goal was to encourage others around the community to donate items, treats, or money in order to help those in need. Everyone who donated was entered into a drawing for one of several prizes from the pub.
In the first week of December, patrons donated cash and gifts that were then taken to Child Protective Services in Billings. Several toys were donated, as was $900 in cash that was converted into 18 gift cards.
On week two, members of the community brought in items to be donated to Carter County Food Bank. Mrs. Jardee and her son, Bentley, dropped off 10 boxes of goods.
During the third week in December the Pub took in monetary donations. The money was taken to Southeast Electric Cooperative where it was applied to electric bills of those in need throughout the community. The Pub also matched the amount that was donated and dropped off a $420 check at the cooperative.
During the final week of 'The Dawg House Weeks of Christmas,' the pub asked community members to bring in tasty holiday treats for residents in the long-term care facility at Dahl Memorial Healthcare. The treats were delivered on Tuesday, in time for the residents' annual Christmas party.
Winners who participated and gave throughout the month will be drawn at the end of the year, but the real winners of the contest were those who received the donations from a generous community and the pub this holiday season.
