Earlier this year, VFW Auxiliary set up Beaver Lodge Cemetery with Wreaths Across America for fallen veterans. There are 250 veterans buried at the cemetery. Because of a time crunch the auxiliary wasn’t able to do a fundraiser for the wreaths, which cost $15 each. Twelve of them were sent, along with an American flag and several U.S. military service flags.
Les Poland, Keith Beach and Doug Beach recently helped hang the wreaths around the fence at Veterans Park.
On December 18th, a small group turned out at Veterans Park for a ceremony on National Wreaths Across America Day. At the ceremony those in attendance were reminded of the purpose of the park and wreaths. After, there was a moment of silence. A couple songs were then sang before the ceremony ended.
In 2022, local VFW Auxiliary members and the VFW hope to work together to raise funds so that a wreath may be purchased for each veteran at the cemetery. Please contact a member of the auxiliary if you would like to contribute. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
