Chamber to discuss Montana Main Street Project on Thursday

Carter County Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to meet this Thursday, November 18th, at 5:50 p.m. inside Stompin’ Grounds. Members unable to attend in person may take part via phone-in or Zoom by contacting President Eva Grimes at 406-975-6444.

During the chamber’s October meeting, a report on Festifall was provided by Grimes. Suggestions for next year included a cake walk and a costume contest for children to participate in. This year’s winners of the chili cook-off were Phil Cook, Terri Jump and Abbey Bruski.

An update on the Veterans Park was also given. The building of the memorial wall for the park is currently on hold until spring when organizers hope the cost of building materials goes down. Current funds available are close to $18,000, with donations still being solicited. Interested donors may contact Grimes for more information.

As a part of the chamber’s new business, members voted to partner with St. Elizabeth Lutheran Church to make this year’s trick-or-trunk on Main Street during Halloween a chamber sponsored event. Members were also reminded that dues are up in January, 2022.

Much of the discussion at the meeting revolved around the Montana Main Street Project. Grant funds are currently available and applications for the current cycle are due by December 9th. Members discussed possible uses of funds including a facade improvement project for Main Street buildings in Ekalaka. There is a six-month deadline to use any awarded funds. The project will be discussed again at the chamber’s meeting on Thursday.
