Bulldogs lose after strong start vs. Cowboys

The CCHS Bulldogs started strong versus their conference opponent from Culbertson last Friday night at Rowley Field. On Blue's first possession, they chewed almost seven minutes off the clock on their way to the end zone.

Late in the second quarter, the Dogs held a 20-13 lead on the Cowboys. After a Cowboy turnover, Blue had a goal-to-go opportunity and a chance to go up two scores before the half when a fumble on the quarterback to center exchange gave the ball back to Culbertson.

The Cowboys took all of the momentum in the game back and put up two quick scores to take a halftime lead that they never looked back on.

The Bulldogs failed to put together a scoring drive in the second half while the Cowboys widened the gap. Again, pass defense was an issue for CCHS. They gave up several chunk plays through the air. After a hot start, the Dogs went on to lose 20-49.

CCHS will not make the playoffs this year as they currently sit fourth in the 8-Man East B Sub-Conference. Culbertson is first in their sub-conference with an undefeated record.

This Saturday, CCHS (2-5) travels to Broadus (3-4) for an interdivisional contest against the Hawks. The Hawks are the fourth place team out of the 8-Man East A Sub-Conference. The contest will be Ekalaka's final football game this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
