The Bulldogs were originally scheduled to play a conference game in St. Labre last week, but since St. Labre canceled its season the school scheduled a non-conference game at home versus Park City.
Blue was able to drive the ball some early, although Park City's defensive front was wreaking havoc on the Dogs' running game. In the first half, three Bulldog drives stalled out in the red zone. The Dogs didn't help themselves much either, as false starts and holding penalties kept causing them to get behind the chains.
CCHS did another fair job of shutting down their opponent's run game. Park City, though, was able to move the ball through the air some, exploiting the middle of the Bulldogs' pass defense. Middle linebacker Tucker Tooke did pick two passes off, but only one counted as the other was nullified by a roughing the passer.
The Dogs nearly scored right before the half to get within a score, but the score came on a forward lateral and was called back. At halftime Ekalaka was down 24-8. Park City pulled away early in the third quarter. Once the Panthers had the game in hand, coach Kittelmann went to his bench and got some younger Bulldog players and reserves valuable game-time experience that should help the team going forward. CCHS put up one score in the third quarter on a broken play and another in the fourth after both teams had went to their respective benches. The Dogs lost, 20-46.
CCHS will need to improve on the offensive line and continue to get better on pass defense in order to get a win this Saturday versus Plentywood for homecoming. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Rowley Field.
