9th Annual Dino Shindig: A look at the numbers

Carter County Museum's 9th Annual Dino Shindig was well attended this year as the event continues to be one of the more anticipated summer events in Ekalaka.

This year, forty-three volunteers worked a total of 850 hours to make the Shindig possible.

Attendance at the museum throughout the entire week of the Shindig was impressive as 563 people stopped in to check out everything CCM has to offer. Two hundred fifty-seven turned out for the talks on July 24. Of those, 83 were local, 68 were from elsewhere in Montana and 106 were from out-of-state.

The virtual component of the Shindig, 'Shindig Planet' had 82 members this year. Those members made 38 posts and shared 141 comments and 505 reactions. The YouTube playlist from the Shindig has 319 views so far. A copy of the talks was also sent to Dahl Memorial for the facilities long-term care residents to view.

Thirty-five attended the bat walk with Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks on Saturday night. After the day's events, Tris Munsick & The Innocents played live music on main street. The band was a huge hit.

On July 25, fifty-five individuals, accompanied by 22 volunteers, attended the dig portion of the event

The Shindig was again well attended by families with young children, field crews and retirees from across the US. It provided an economic boost for local businesses that are now preparing for the annual fair and rodeo.

Museum staff will also be busy during the fair and have already started preparing for the 10th Annual Dino Shindig next July.
