Hilda (Ehret) Sieler, 96, of Baker passed away of natural causes, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Billings Clinic Hospital with her family at her side.
Hilda was born on the family farm 5 miles south of Plevna, the youngest of 6, to German immigrants, Jacob and Elizabeth (Schrot) Ehret on January, 16 1924. She attended Prairie Park School through the eighth grade. She graduated from Plevna High School in 1941. She then went to Custer County Junior College in Mile City, graduating in 1943. That fall she began teaching seventh and eighth grade in Plevna. The following two years she taught third and fourth grade. She then taught in country schools in the county for six years while working on additional college summer sessions in Billings and Missoula. From 1952-1957 she taught fifth and sixth grade at Plevna.
After 14 years of teaching she met the love of her life, Simon Sieler and married in 1957. To this union were born two sons, Steve in 1958 and Mark in 1961. With their marriages to Sue and Jutta respectfully, she said she gained the daughters she never had and loved them dearly. Grandchildren she loved so much included Shawn, Kyla (Carter), Kendall (Alyssa) and Shay Lynn (Aaron) and great granddaughters Deanne, Haley and Thea Rose.
Together Hilda and Simon raised their sons farming west of Baker and south of Ekalaka. She loved the Lord dearly and was a passionate student of the Bible at an early age in confirmation learning scripture in German as well as English. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and was very involved in women's ministry, Friendship Bible Coffees and was a faithful member of Baker Assembly of God Church. She also loved to host people for meals, bake and cook for friends and family and was always attentive to the needs of others around the world. Hilda had a real heart for missions.
Hilda now rejoices with a clear mind and joins her Savior Jesus, her husband, Simon who passed away in 2005, as well as her parents, Jacob and Elizabeth Ehret, her siblings, Maggie Losing, Alvina Riggs, Lydia Scheuffele, Bill Ehret and Bertha Leischner.
