A whopping ninety-four percent of the 926 registered voters in Carter County cast ballots in the 2020 Federal General Election. That number is up substantially from a 78 percent voter turnout in 2018 and 84 percent in 2016. Precinct 3, which includes Hammond and Boyes, had the best percentage at 97.6.
Even with a high voter turnout, election officials were able to have full, unofficial results prior to 10 p.m. on election night. Ballots were counted quickly as the county used a hand-fed ballot scanning device for the first time.
Of local interest, Tracey Walker-who ran unopposed-received 825 votes for Clerk of District Court/Superintendent of Schools and Rodney Tauck-also unopposed-received 731 votes for District 1 County Commissioner.
Statewide results, including ballot initiatives and the race for governor, can be found on the Montana Secretary of State website.
