Carter County Museum community quilt now finished

Earlier this year, Carter County Museum called on community members to send in quilt block designs that would be used to create a community quilt. In September, Denise Elmore of Forty 5 Degrees North and Museum Director Sabre Moore quilted the top. Now, the quilt is finished and will become a part of the museum's collection.

Quilter quotes

"I think UNITY illustrates our museum community. Citizens of our county donating money, time and energy towards preserving our past and looking into the future. Talented young natives of Ekalaka returning and bringing with them knowledge, connections and new ideas; and 're'uniting with our community. Uniting the old and the new into something dynamic." - Susan Tooke

"I decided to feature the flora of the museum grounds. Secondly, my husband, David Rutledge attended that little white school." - Janette Dean Rutledge

"The ginko leaf represents the CCM because it is considered to be a "living fossil" and has remained unchanged since the beginning of time. Like the museum, it connects the past with the present." - Gwen Schultz
